The Madhouse has its home in the lovely South Derbyshire village of Rosliston, nestled between Lichfield, Swadlincote and Burton-on-Trent. SatNav - DE12 8LB. We are not a folk club; not that there's anything wrong with that. What we do, is promote live acoustic music of any genre, as long as it's good!

The Madhouse is the home of friendly people and legendary Marston's Pedigree - a fine beer that is served at Madhouse gigs. We encourage people to bring a picnic if they wish, 'quiet' food please, while the artists are on stage! What we provide :- Great music with a friendly atmosphere! Licensed bar and informal tabled seating, set out in such a way that every seat can see the stage. But you choose - stand or sit!  There is easy access and proper facilities for our friends with wheelchairs. We have plenty of free parking at the hall, complete with boundless outside smoking facilities, for those between set, speed-smoking sessions! .We have a house PA rig with monitors. What you provide:- is your very good company and support.

We are known as "a good night out" and people have been known to give up an evening of ferret racing to be at a Madhouse gig! Don't tell me that people don't suffer for the sake of art! Come and see for yourself - it is a legendary experience!

Amy Wadge said, "I absolutely loved playing The Madhouse - it's got a great atmosphere and the guys that run it are brilliant."

Doors 7.30pm for 8.00pm start.

The life and career Boo now has first began to blossom with the group he formed in the mid-Eighties, The Bible. Two of their finest songs, Graceland and Honey Be Good, came tantalisingly close to becoming huge hits. (A third, Glorybound, is one of the recordings about which Nick Hornby rhapsodises in his book 31 Songs.) Boo now wishes he could have enjoyed The Bible’s time on the verge of success a little more. I think I felt under a lot of pressure, he reflects. There were a lot of people telling me what I should do and I felt very bullied. And some things take years to seem funny. The Bible first decided to disband after being flown over to Germany to perform Honey Be Good on, they belatedly discovered, a talent show. A man who wore a bowtie with lights on that spun round, and who went by the name of Mr Gadget, won with 140,000 votes. The Bible were told that they had received twelve votes. We all took it so personally that we split up, says Boo. For many years Boo had been writing with and for other artists in 1989 he released a whole album, Evidence, in collaboration with the American country singer Darden Smith but towards the end of the Nineties he also began to write songs for and with pop artists, something he considers a complete separate endeavour. I don’t think of myself in that world at all, he explains. It’s just I quite enjoy the Brill Building aspect. I enjoy it because it’s not what I do. Amongst the many artists he has written for in this way are Natalie Imbruglia, Mel C and Alex Parks.

Amy began performing at Open Mic sessions in Cardiff's Toucan Club. She soon started developing a fan base and quickly gained critical recognition. She was spotted by some of the city’s big players, among them, Manics/Catatonia/Super Furry Animals producer, Greg Haver, who recorded her debut mini-album, The Famous Hour. That ended up on the desk of the people launching 'BBC 6Music'. They loved it and immediately asked Amy to perform at their launch night. Also on the bill that night were The Stereophonics, Embrace, Pete Yorn and Lenny Kravitz.
